Overview

The construction industry is currently enjoying resurgence across the UK, with the two biggest areas for growth being house building and the nuclear industry. Whatever trade you choose to study – from plumbing, to brickwork, to electrical, to joinery, to civil engineering – you’ll learn all the essential skills you need to build your own career path. Whether you want to be part of shaping the UK’s future housing market, or setting up your own joinery business, our courses will help set you up for bright future in this diverse industry.

We’re also lucky enough to have access to state-of-the-art facilities. Visiting employers are constantly impressed with our £7 million Construction Skills Centre, which houses all our construction & the built environment courses under one roof, as well as having access to the ‘Big Rig’, the biggest training rig in the UK and is the only Rig created solely for the nuclear industry.

In September 2021 we’re launching a Construction T Level. A T Level is the equivalent of three A Levels and mixes classroom learning with on-the-job placements. The different pathways which we will offer are: Carpentry & Joinery; Bricklaying; Electrical; Plumbing; and Design, Surveying & Planning the Built Environment. Find out more about T Levels here

“Picking up a new skill and getting it to a high standard can take practice but I make sure I listen to my tutors and stick in at it. It’s important to learn from your mistakes and not be put off if you don’t get it perfect first time round.”
