Courses We Offer
At Lillyhall Sixth Form at Lakes College, you can choose to study up to four A Levels, or combine two A Levels with a Level 3 Vocational course in Art and Design, Sport or Engineering. This flexible approach allows you to earn UCAS points as you study, giving you a head start towards university, apprenticeships or employment while gaining both academic knowledge and practical skills.

A LEVELS
Maths

Combined English
Study both language and literature to explore how texts are created, interpreted and understood.
Biology

Chemistry explains the substances that make up our world and how they react.

Explore the fundamental laws that govern the universe, from motion and energy to electricity and quantum physics.

Examine how society works and how social issues affect individuals and communities.

Vocational qualifications
Level 3 Extended Certificate in Art and Design
Explore the principles of art and design, from creative concepts and visual communication to practical techniques and artistic expression.
Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sports
Discover the theory and practice of sport, from performance and coaching to fitness, psychology and the science of physical activity.
Level 3 Extended Certificate in Engineering
Explore the principles of engineering, from technical design and manufacturing to problem-solving, innovation and practical application.
Core Maths
Core Maths is designed to support students in applying mathematical skills to real-life situations.
Enhance your Studies
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
The EPQ allows you to research a topic of your choice and produce a project, dissertation or artefact. Equivalent to half an A Level.
Flexible study options
At Lillyhall Sixth Form, part of Lakes College, you can study A Levels as a dedicated academic pathway, helping you focus on the subjects that support your university or career goals.
Some students also choose to combine two A Levels with a Level 3 vocational qualification to broaden their knowledge and keep their options open.
Examples include:
- Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sport + A Level Biology and two A Levels from Psychology, Business, Sociology
- Level 3 Extended Certificate in Art and Design Practice + two A Levels from: Psychology, Sociology, Combined English,
- Level 3 Extended Certificate in Engineering and two A Levels from Psychology, Chemistry and Maths
This flexible approach creates a balanced programme of coursework and exams, preparing you for university, degree apprenticeships, or employment.
Our timetables have been designed to allow as much flexibility as possible to allow students to combine two A Levels with a third A Level or Level 3 Extended Certificate. Subject choices will be confirmed at guidance meetings and enrolment. Our expert careers advisors will help guide you with subject choices which will unlock your future into Higher Education, Degree Apprenticeships or employment.

Lillyhall Sixth Form students will learn in modern classrooms and industry-leading science labs designed to reflect real working environments.
On the main Lakes College campus, you’ll also have access to a modern canteen serving homemade food and Starbucks drinks, an on-site gym, over 450 parking spaces and regular bus services directly to college.
