Courses We Offer

At Lillyhall Sixth Form at Lakes College, you can choose to study just A Levels or combine A Levels with a BTEC to create a study programme that suits your strengths and future plans.

This flexible approach allows you to earn UCAS points as you study, giving you a head start towards university, apprenticeships or employment while gaining both academic knowledge and practical skills.

Maths

Develop strong problem-solving and analytical skills through topics such as algebra, calculus, statistics and mechanics.

Core Maths

Core Maths builds on the mathematical skills you gained at GCSE and focuses on applying maths to real-life situations. Equivalent to half an A Level.

Combined English

Study both language and literature to explore how texts are created, interpreted and understood.

Biology

Discover how living organisms function and interact with the world around them.

Chemistry

Chemistry explains the substances that make up our world and how they react.

Physics

Explore the fundamental laws that govern the universe, from motion and energy to electricity and quantum physics.

Psychology

Learn about human behaviour and the mind through topics such as memory, attachment, social influence and mental health.

Sociology

Examine how society works and how social issues affect individuals and communities.

Business

Gain insight into how organisations operate and succeed. You’ll explore areas such as marketing, finance, management and entrepreneurship.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

The EPQ allows you to research a topic of your choice and produce a project, dissertation or artefact. Equivalent to half an A Level.

Flexible study options

At Lillyhall Sixth Form, part of Lakes College, you can study A Levels as a dedicated academic pathway, helping you focus on the subjects that support your university or career goals.

Some students also choose to combine an A Level with a Level 3 vocational qualification to broaden their knowledge and keep their options open.

Examples include:

  • BTEC Diploma in Sport + A Level Biology – combining practical sport with the science of human performance
  • Level 3 Health and Social Care + A Level Psychology – linking real-world care practice with the study of behaviour and people

This flexible approach creates a balanced programme of coursework and exams, preparing you for university, degree apprenticeships, or employment.
