Joining the Board

Would you like to play a part in the future of Lakes College West Cumbria?

Joining the Board details

This is an exciting time for the College with many new developments happening in the West Cumbria area. The College and its Board aim to be major players in those developments.

We are seeking committed, motivated and dynamic people to join the Corporation and help develop the future educational character, mission and strategic direction of the College.

The Board has members drawn from a mix of backgrounds with a range of knowledge, experience and skills representing the community which the College serves. To build on a number of exciting projects in recent years, we are now seeking committed, motivated and dynamic people to join them and help steer the educational character, mission and strategic direction of the College.

The role is voluntary although we do pay out of pocket expenses in connection with Board work. It can be challenging, fascinating and very rewarding. While each governor brings their particular skills to the role, we hope that they will also gain from the experience of serving as a governor. Governors are expected to attend regular Corporation meetings and also to serve on at least one committee. There are also a number of training sessions each year which they should attend.

The College is committed to equality of opportunity for all and therefore particularly welcomes enquiries from members of the public whose groups may be under-represented on the current Board such as women, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

If you are interested in joining the Corporation, please get in touch and ask to speak to the Clerk to the Governors, Jane Murray on 01946 839 300.
