This course is designed for students aged 16-18 with a strong interest in sport or football development while gaining a valuable skill set within coaching, sports science and performance analysis.Students who complete this course, alongside our coaching or sports science pathway will open opportunities to progress onto university, U.S scholarships, apprenticeships and future careers across a variety of coaching, sport science, or teaching roles within the world of sport.
This one-year course course allows students to work across a variety of industry disciplines including: Careers in Sport, Sports Coaching, Sporting Performance and Analysis, Physical and Mental Health and Sports Science. Each areas of study will include key knowledge, skills and behaviours, with learners given the opportunity to practice these throughout the week. Alongside the theory, learners have the opportunity to compete in sports competitions across the country.Entry requirements
To study this course you require four GCSEs at Grade 4 and above including maths and English.
Costs
This course is free for students aged 16 or over but under 19 on 31 August 2026. For adults (aged 19+) this course is partially funded by the Government, depending on circumstances you may be eligible for full funding. To be eligible for funding, you must be a UK resident or have lived in the country for three or more years. Find out more here
Please note: if you plan to progress onto the Extended Diploma, the course will be free if you are under 19 on the 31st August 2027. For adults (aged 19+) this course is partially funded by the Government, depending on circumstances you may be eligible for full funding. To be eligible for funding, you must be a UK resident or have lived in the country for three or more years.
What next?
Following the course, you can progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma is Sport and Physical Activity which is a one-year course. Following this the progression is university or a U.S scholarship leading to careers as a PE teacher, grassroots coach, team manager, sports coach, grassroots coach, sports analyst, self-employed coaching business
