An England Rugby Union club developer visited Lakes College to inspire and encourage its sport and public service students.

Liam Nicholls, a club developer for England Rugby Union put students to the test in an intensive rugby coaching session in the hope of inspiring the next generation.

The coaching session provided a unique opportunity for students to learn directly from a seasoned professional and be able to enhance their understanding of the game further.

Liam said: ‘’It was brilliant to work with the learners at Lakes College and their enthusiasm was brilliant.

‘’Talking to them about the coaching process and how they can develop their skills in this area, is something I have always been extremely passionate about. I hope that it has given them some practical application examples to add to the theory they have been covering as part of their course this term.’’

The opportunity provided college students with exposure to industry professionals and the opportunity to enrich their educational journey and prepare themselves for success in their chosen field.

Level 3 Uniformed Services student, Lewis Miller, said: ‘’Liam gave a good insight into future careers we can go into. The way the coaching was presented was excellent and really helpful.’’

Thomas Marper, Curriculum Team Leader in Sport and Public Services said: ‘’At Lakes College we believe in putting the academic theory into real life practice skill and putting their theory into real life situations. It was great having Liam here to show the types of careers you can end up in.’’

The college will be holding an Open Evening on Tuesday, December 5th between 5pm and 7.30pm, where there will be information available about all courses.
