Hundreds of excited students are celebrating after receiving impressive results at Lakes College.

Level 3 and BTEC learners at the Lillyhall-based college are breathing a sigh of relief as results day came around once again, with many achieving top grades and continuing onto University.

Chris Nattress, Lakes College Principal said: I’m delighted that so many of our Level 3 students have been awarded fantastic results today, which they thoroughly deserve.

“Their commitment and dedication to their studies throughout very challenging circumstances during the last academic year has really paid off and I’m thrilled to see so many top and high grades.

“All staff here at the college thank them for their resilience and great spirit during COVID-19 circumstances and wish them all the very best for their next steps into universities, apprenticeships and the start of their careers.

“Great job everyone!”

The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that students all over the country have had a second year with no final exams, but students at Lakes College have not let this stop them from achieving fantastic results.

Chloe Martin received an A* in her Nurse Cadet course and is heading off to Edge Hill University in September to study Midwifery.

She said: “I got better than I expected, it’s been a stressful year because we didn’t know what was happening, but I am really happy with my results!”

Aiden Pattinson got an A* in the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, and said: “I’ve worked really hard this year, so I expected good results!

“I am happy with my A* and looking forward to going to university in September. I will be going to Manchester Metropolitan to study Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy.”

Along with all the students leaving the college for university, some learners are continuing their studies at Lakes and progressing on to a higher education course.

Lakes College have a variety of higher education courses on offer, from HNCs and HNDs all the way through to Honour Degrees – there is something for everyone.

Two students who have chosen this path are Linzi McKenzie and Joshua Roberts.

In September, Linzi will study the Foundation Degree in Working with Children and Families and said she feels “really happy” with her results and “was hoping for a good grade.”

Joshua will be studying the Foundation Degree in Applied Chemistry at Lakes College, through an apprenticeship with an employer. He is “really happy” with his results after a “stressful year”.
