Lakes College is celebrating GCSE resit success, with learners achieving results above national averages.

Results released today show that all learners who sat their GCSE resits in English and maths at the college in November 2025 achieved a pass, highlighting the impact of focused teaching, structured support and strong learner commitment.

The maths pass rate for grades 4 and above is more than double the national average, while the English pass rate for grades 4 and above is in line with the national average.

Vice Principal Iain Glendinning said: “These results demonstrate how hard work and determination can lead to real, positive outcomes. Many of the learners who started with us in September had not achieved the expected grades in English and maths when they sat their GCSEs at secondary school.

“In just two months, through intensive lessons alongside their main courses, many learners have achieved a grade 4 or above. They should be extremely proud of themselves, as achieving this grade opens doors and unlocks future opportunities.”
