Shepley Group named first Employer Pledge partner with Lakes College

We are proud to announce that The Shepley Group has become the first official partner in our Employer Pledge of Excellence initiative.

Joining as a Bronze Key Partner, this marks a significant step forward in our shared mission to meet the evolving skills needs of our communities.

Through this exciting partnership, The Shepley Group will provide Lakes College learners with valuable real-world experience across the engineering sector. They will also support learners within the college by delivering essential employability skills, such as mock interviews and industry insight sessions.

Callum Woodend, Managing Director of West Cumberland Engineering Limited, shared his enthusiasm: “Our relationship with the college has been in place for quite some time so it is fitting that we recognise this formally. Presently, we have 52 apprentices training with Lakes College, 12 of which are full time at the Construction Skills Centre and we have a further 6 employees on a variety of non-apprenticeship courses such as quantity surveying, HR and HNC/HND.

“We are really excited to explore new opportunities with the college such as T-Level work experience placements whilst we continue to support the college with industry insight visits to our facilities, and the development of the engineering delivery programmes already in place.”

Mike Brown, Director of PPS Electrical Limited, added: “Partnering with Lakes College felt like a natural step for us. We’ve worked closely together for many years, supporting apprentices, adult learners, and further education students. Formalising that relationship just made sense. It means we can build on each other’s strengths and create even better opportunities for our employees. We’re really looking forward to seeing how this partnership grows and the positive impact it will have on our people.”
