Lakes College is working in partnership with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) to offer a scholarship programme to aspiring engineers looking for a career in the industry.

During their studies, learners will acquire industrial skills and knowledge through a mixture of practical and classroom activity on a full-time basis for one year. The qualification for the scholarship is the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations.

As part of the programme learners will work on clean energy technologies and behavioural based safety. They will complete an ECITB Pre Employment Programme which includes CCNSG safety passport; working safely with hand tools, power tools and equipment; manuel handling; low risk confined space; working at height; and abrasive wheels.

In addition, learners will complete a minimum of 35 hours work experience as well as receiving a training allowance of £60 per week, subject to attendace during term time..

The cut-off date for applicants for this programme is MONDAY, JUNE 2ND 2025, and those intersted in the scholarship should send a Personal Statement of around 500-words to admissions@lcwc.ac.uk.

Entry requirements

Grade 3 in maths and English as well as an interest in engineering.
