The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares students for study at degree level. If you’re over 19 and would like to go to university but left school without the qualifications you need, then our Access to Higher Education course could be the answer.

This intensive one year course will equip you with the study skills and knowledge you need in order to progress onto university level learning. With family friendly hours, small class sizes and excellent one to one support, the Access to Higher Education Diploma is ideal for those who want to further themselves and their career. As there is no upper-age limit, this course attracts a diverse range of students who find the course challenging, intellectually stimulating and rewarding.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is widely recognised by UK universities, and many actively encourage applications from Access students. Each year, around 20,000 Access to Higher Education students apply for a degree course at a UK university. They go on to study a wide range of subjects, including health and social care, law, education, and business.

Here at Lakes College, you will study a wide range of subjects related to the health and social care profession, so you can broaden your mind and develop your academic skills in readiness for university. Many of our students have gone on to study at university in subjects such as Nursing, Midwifery, Mental Health Nursing and Teaching. By studying this course, you will achieve an Access to Higher Education Diploma.

Entry requirements

To study this course yu require GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above. Some universities also require GCSE in science, we recommend you confirm this with your chosen university before starting this course.

Costs

For adults (aged 19+) this course is partially funded by the Government, depending on circumstances you may be eligible for full funding. To be eligible for funding, you must be a UK resident or have lived in the country for three or more years. Find out more here
