Progress and Welfare Coaches

'Our aim is to support every student, to raise their aspirations so they succeed at college and in the wider world'

What is the role of a coach?

Each full-time student has a coach, whether they are studying further education, or a university-level higher education course.

What they do

  • Monitor learners’ study programme progress
  • Carry out one-to-one reviews
  • Set targets to stretch and challenge learners
  • Work alongside the Safeguarding team and Additional Learning team to support all learners

All further education learners have weekly timetabled personal development sessions, which is a compulsory part of the main study programme. In these sessions a range of subjects are covered, such as:

  • Learner attendance, progression and personal development
  • Equality and diversity
  • British Values
  • Setting SMART targets
  • CV and application support (such as UCAS or job applications)
