Who we are

The Bendalls Engineering Skills Academy in association with Lakes College began delivering apprenticeship programmes in Carlisle from September 2022.

We now have more than 60 young people in training and work with many local employers from the nearby industrial estate, the wider city of Carlisle and nearby towns including Wigton, Penrith and Longtown.

This innovative collaboration between Bendalls Engineering and Lakes College is delivered from the company’s site on Kingmoor Broadway in Carlisle in our purpose-built workshops.

What we do

Apprenticeship standards we deliver include welding, fabrication and machining, with plans to expand our offer with engineering fitter and maintenance and operations engineering technician standards in 2025.

We offer flexible delivery models to cater for employer requirements where possible but most apprentices will be required to attend in-centre for two days or four days per week during their first year.

We have developed an excellent track record of training high-quality apprentices, many of whom are operating ahead of schedule in their apprenticeship learning
