Roadworks are set to be carried out at Harrington which will affect traffic to Lakes College starting from Monday, January 30th.

The roadworks will last up to six weeks and students are advised to allow plenty of time to travel to college, especially on GCSE mock exam dates – Tuesday, January 31st and Thursday, February 2nd.

Stagecoach has recommended people catching a bus into college should get on an earlier bus, particularly at the start of the first week as disruptions are at their highest during the beginning of roadworks.

All bus passes including those issued by Cumbria County Council will be accepted if different routes need to be used.

Employability Skills Programme

Offering free short courses to those who are unemployed or claiming out of work benefits.

We offer a range of free, short courses for people who are unemployed or claiming out of work benefits. They are designed to provide the next step into job areas such as Administration, Hospitality, Retail, Construction, Care and more. They are teamed with a separate Employability qualification during which time you can set personal goals and boost your confidence around your existing skills and abilities.

All courses are part time and last for around 6 weeks and run throughout the year. You will gain a qualification from attending.

Courses are free for those claiming JSA, Work Related ESA and Universal Credit. We work in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and there should be no effect on your benefit claim if you attend a course, but you need to let your work coach know.

Also, if you are out of work and claim Council Tax Reduction, Income Support or Housing Benefit the course may be free.
