Roadworks are set to be carried out at Harrington which will affect traffic to Lakes College starting from Monday, January 30th.

The roadworks will last up to six weeks and students are advised to allow plenty of time to travel to college, especially on GCSE mock exam dates – Tuesday, January 31st and Thursday, February 2nd.

Stagecoach has recommended people catching a bus into college should get on an earlier bus, particularly at the start of the first week as disruptions are at their highest during the beginning of roadworks.

All bus passes including those issued by Cumbria County Council will be accepted if different routes need to be used.

Social

Lakes College works with local function venues to organise regular social events. The events are well attended and a great way to get together to celebrate all the hard work. Various competitions and events are also organised throughout the year to socialise with students from other departments and colleges.

Student Ambassadors

Each year we ask for students to volunteer and become student ambassadors. These roles are important to the college as it enables us to get up-to-date feedback from a student perspective. You will voice issues from your peers in order to make the college a better place for everyone.

As a student ambassador you will be asked to attend meetings throughout the year, create working groups so that we can get students involved in organising activities such as fundraising events and sporting competitions, as well as recruit people to represent the student voice throughout college committees.

In return we will give you a certificate, which you can present as part of your CV, highlighting your contribution to the college as a course representative. The experience of being a student ambassador is fundamental to your personal development as it is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your interpersonal and communication skills.
