Essential Information

As a provider of higher education and training, the college is expected to be transparent about the courses offered. This is so applicants clearly understand what the college will provide in exchange for any course fees. On this page you will find a range of documents which offer guidance on your rights and the college’s higher education terms and conditions for students studying higher education at Lakes College. In enrolling as a student at Lakes College you are accepting these terms and conditions, and they will form part of your contract.

Please note:

  • Every student of Lakes College becomes liable for tuition fees upon enrolment. Reimbursement of these fees is at the discretion of the College’s Finance team.
  • Tuition fees are not normally refunded to or in respect of a student who withdraws or is excluded during the session.
  • Lakes College reserves the right not to grant a qualification where academic fees are still owing to the college. Primarily this constitutes tuition fees, but the college reserves the right to deem other unpaid academic related fees as academic debt.

Reports and documents

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is an independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on standards and quality in UK higher education. Please find a statement regarding Higher Education courses and the Covid-19 situation from Eliza Treme-Swailes, Director of Further and Higher Education at Lakes College.

“Our top priority is the health and safety of our Lakes College community; our students and our staff.

“We are planning to begin the academic year in September 2020 as planned, for all new and continuing students. We are currently assessing the requirements to provide an appropriate learning experience on our campus at Lillyhall, in line with government advice.

“Our planned approach is that our Higher Education courses will be delivered in a blended mode, using a mixture of online learning with face-to-face sessions as appropriate and where it is safe to do so on the College site. All face-to-face learning activity will be managed to enable social distancing and other safety requirements for the protection of students and staff.

“We will continue to access the government guidance over the summer and will provide more detail prior to the start of our Higher Education courses as to the different components of the blended mode of delivery for each course.”
