The Level 1 Certificate in Construction Skills at The Lakes College provides a practical introduction to core construction trades, including brickwork, groundwork, and carpentry and joinery.
Delivered over eight weeks, starting on 17th April 2026, this hands-on course takes place every Friday from 9am to 5pm in our specialist Construction Skills Centre. Learners gain experience using industry-standard tools, materials, and techniques while developing essential confidence and awareness of safe working practices on a construction site.
Through a blend of demonstrations and guided workshop activities, you’ll learn how to lay basic brickwork, prepare and level ground, and measure, cut, and assemble timber components accurately.
The programme is ideal for anyone new to the industry or looking to build practical skills in a supportive, real-world environment.
