  • Course Description

    The Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork will help you develop your practical skills and enhance your knowledge. The course comprises of theory work and practical sessions in the brickwork workshop in the college’s state-of-the-art Construction Skill Centre. The units covered will include: principles of building construction, information and communication, health, safety and welfare in construction, building solid walling, isolated and attached piers, interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures, constructing cavity walling and forming masonry structures. This course is ideal for you if you work well in a team, enjoy working with your hands and you're looking to take your first steps in a bricklaying career. It will help you to learn how to work safely, understand building materials and set out and construct walls. As part of this course you will also have the opportunity to top up your maths and English skills if applicable for your studies.
  • Entry Requirements?

    To study this course you’ll need a relevant Level 1 qualification and Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English, or 4 GCSEs grade 9 - 3 (A*-D). If you are applying for Level 2 directly, you will also be required to pass a skills test.
  • Costs

    Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full Level 2 qualification e.g. 5 GCSEs grade 9 to 4 (A* to C). Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA (Employment Support Allowance, work related activity) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs. Actual Cost is: £3345.00. All costs are subject to slight changes.
  • What Next?

    Following this course you may wish to continue their studies with a Level 3 qualification or an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships give you real world experience in the industry with the benefit of a training wage. Studying on this course could lead to a career in the construction sector such as a bricklayer, trades foreman, site supervisor or a health and safety advisor.
