  • Course Description

    The Level 1 Diploma in Joinery is an introductory course that will equip you with the basic practical skills and knowledge needed to start work in the industry. This one year, full time course comprises of theory work and practical sessions in the joinery workshop in the college’s state-of-the-art Construction Skill Centre. The units covered will include: health, safety and welfare in construction, principles of building construction, information and communication, maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools, prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools, produce woodworking joints. This course is ideal for you if you work well in a team, enjoy working with your hands and you're looking to take your first steps in a joinery career. As part of this course you will also have the opportunity to top up your maths and English skills if applicable for your studies.
  • Entry Requirements?

    4 GCSEs grade 1 (G) or above and/or demonstrate an interest in the subject.
  • Costs

    Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds where needed as a stepping stone to progress to a full Level 2. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA (Employment Support Allowance, work related activity) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs. Actual Cost is: £1291.00. All costs are subject to slight changes.
  • What Next?

    This course will prepare you for the Level 2 Diploma in Site or Bench Joinery. You may also wish to continue your studies as part of an apprenticeship.
