Georgia Morgan is studying a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) technician apprenticeship with Peterson UK Ltd, via Lakes College.

We caught up with Georgia and asked her a few questions!

What made you choose an apprenticeship with Lakes College?

With the SHE Technician Apprenticeship being a new course for 2021 at Lakes College, my employer put me forward due to me getting more involved in Health & Safety in the workplace and it is something I want to pursue as a career.

What did you love about your apprenticeship?

I love that it has given me the opportunity to learn on the job and the SHE Technician Apprenticeship will provide me with the essential knowledge needed for my current role and for the career I want to pursue.

What would you say to somebody who is considering doing an apprenticeship?

I would recommend anyone to do an apprenticeship, as it gives you fantastic on the job experience and helps you develop new skills that you wouldn’t gain attending a classroom-based college course.

Has studying an apprenticeship with us helped you in terms of employability and learning skills on the job?

Yes, it has. The practical training has given me chance to put certain skills into practice and has helped me to gain more confidence at work.

What support did you receive during your apprenticeship?

I receive regular reviews/check-ins to ensure that I am well supported and that I am progressing at the right pace, as well as helping me with any questions I may have. Michael responds to all my emails quickly which helps me proceed within the apprenticeship.
