Lakes College in Top 10 for Student Satisfaction

Lakes College West Cumbria has been ranked in the top 10 for student satisfaction in the annual National Student Survey undertaken by Higher Education students across the UK.

The survey, commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce), lists satisfaction ratings across 155 universities, 190 Further Education colleges and 13 alternative providers in the UK.

Lakes College scored 97% for overall student satisfaction with their course. The results mean that Lakes College has now risen 17% above the national benchmark of 80%, and puts the college in the top 10% of HE providers for learner satisfaction. The college also received 100% positive feedback from students in assessment and marking, and for staff explanations in their subjects. 97% of students said they found their courses intellectually stimulating, and that they received sufficient advice and support with their studies.

Chris Nattress, College Principal, comments, “We are delighted with the results of this year’s survey. The feedback from our students is excellent and reflects all the hard work and dedication our staff put in every day to make the college a vibrant learning community. This demonstration of confidence by our students shows that our new strategy of focusing on our teaching and learning principles, and improving overall outcomes and the quality of learning for all students, is working.”

“I am very proud of what our students have achieved and I hope this result encourages students to continue to apply and become a part of the Lakes College family. We have many exciting opportunities happening at Lakes College in the future, including hosting the UK’s National College for Nuclear facility, and although we are delighted with this result, we will continue to strive to provide the best possible experience for every one of our learners.”
