Jack Gordon celebrates A Level success

A Lakes College student is celebrating his A Level results success today. Jack Gordon, the only A Level student at the college, received two A*s and a C in Psychology, Human Biology and Chemistry.

Jack, 18, from Dalton-in-Furness, made the three hour round trip to pick up his results at Lakes College. He has been studying at the college for two years.

Jack says, “Originally I came to Lakes College two years ago as part of the Ace Rugby Academy, but I stayed on to complete my A Levels. I’m chuffed with my results and for getting into my first choice of university.”

Jack originally applied to Lakes College as part of the Ace Rugby Academy. As part of the Academy, Jack had to study for his AS Levels and he decided to stay on at the college to complete his A Levels. As the only A Level student, Lakes College made special provisions for him to ensure that he could complete his A Levels, including providing him with his own timetable and having one-to-one tutoring with three different lecturers. Despite the long distance travelling and the fact that he was the only student in his class, Jack never gave up.

Jack’s mum, Nicola O’Reilly, who drove him to college most days and made the three hour round trip for his results day, says, “He’s done all of this himself. It’s all down to him and his hard work. I’m so proud of him.

Jack will now go on to study Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield in September.

Chris Nattress, College Principal, comments, “Jack’s results are a testament to his hard work and perseverance. Against all odds, Jack has passed his A Levels with flying colours, and he is proof that anyone can achieve anything if they put their minds to it. I am extremely proud of everything he has accomplished during his time with us and we wish him the very best for the future.”
