"Governors at Lakes College West Cumbria bring local knowledge, business and financial expertise and experience to the strategic management of the college.
Our job is to make sure that the college is financially sound, has the accommodation it needs and to give strategic direction to the overall educational character and mission of the College.
We work hard to challenge management on proposed decisions to make sure that the decision is sound and to support them in the drive to move the college from ‘good to great’.
To help in this, we retain an oversight of activities, keeping abreast of a range of issues, including learners’ and employers’ views, to ensure that we continue to head in the right direction.;
With success rates for most of our courses in the top 10% for the country, we think ‘great’ is just around the corner, and Governors will continue to work hard, in challenging financial times, to ensure the experience of Lakes College is a positive one, for students, staff and employers."
