Construction & The Built Environment

Construction is West Cumbria changing. That’s why we’ve given our department the new title of Construction & The Built Environment as it involves not only the trades, but the design, management and specialist engineering skills that the industry needs.

Overview

With changes in technology, techniques, building materials and growing demand for housing, the business of making buildings has changed. That’s why we’ve introduced civil engineering in to our offer, so we are producing students that not only build, but design, survey and project manage anything from a barn conversion to a new bridge.

We are also lucky enough to have the best in facilities, probably in the country. Visiting employers are constantly impressed with our £7 million centre, which houses everyone under one roof. We know this area is growing, that’s why we have invested. Why not find out if it is right for you?

Picking up a new skill and getting it to a high standard can take practice but I make sure I listen to my tutors and stick in at it. It’s important to learn from your mistakes and not be put off if you don’t get it perfect first time round.
