HND in Computing and Systems Development

Career Prospects We live in the information age, so jobs in storing, sorting and presenting information are essential. Whether you're programming computers or working in a library, there are many jobs within computing, you’ll need an analytical mind and an organised approach. Example careers include: Computer Games Developer, IT Support Technician, Network Engineer, Web Developer etc.

Entry level wage in this career is £17k, but can rise to £68k with work experience and further education.

Entry Requirements

For learners who have recently been in education, the entry profile is:

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in IT with Merit profile
  • A GCE Advanced level profile which demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject (B and above) or adequate performance (C) in more than one GCE subject. This profile will be supported by at least 4 GCSE grades A* to C including English and Mathematics or their equivalent.
  • Mature learners must have relevant current work experience in IT or computer systems.
  • All learners must be 18 years or over on entry.
  • Offers are subject to successful interview and if necessary a suitable academic reference.
What Next? On completion of the course HND learners may choose to progress to the final year of a degree course at another institution. All learners may choose to seek employment in the IT and computing sectors.
